Introduction: As populations gradually become older, osteoporosis manifests itself as an important public health problem. Studies have shown that inflammation plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis. NLR neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and PLR platelet to lymphocyte ratio are simple, non-invasive, and inexpensive markers of inflammation in malignancies and inflammatory diseases.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included a total of patients aged 65 or above. Results: The osteoporosis group demonstrated higher NLR levels compared to the osteopenic and control groups respectively 3. Conclusions: The fact that individuals with geriatric osteoporosis demonstrate elevated NLR levels and that this elevation is also seen in sedimentation suggests that inflammation plays an important role in bone remodelling.

In recent years, closed automated systems that measure ESR directly from a capped EDTA and citrate blood sample tube have been de-veloped. We found the mean difference between two methods as 0. The obtained correlation coefficient was 0. There was no evidence of systemic bias, equal to 0. J Clin Exp Invest ; 5 3 :
Language: English Turkish. End stage renal disease ESRD has a high worldwide prevalence and incidence. Peritonitis is one of the leading causes of hospitalization in peritoneal dialysis patients. Although inflammatory markers show increased inflammatory responses, cellular immune response was decreased in ESRD patients. Leptin is an adipocyte-derived hormone that has activity in energy, nutrition and immune system. Forty-one ESRD patients, who were been at least 12 months of peritoneal dialysis therapy, were included in the study. Serum leptin level, WBC count, C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and biochemical markers were measured.
